Addition of an enechoic chamber means further expansion of in-house test capabilities.
APC Technology has added an EMC chamber into their Innovation Hub located at the head office in Cheltenham, SA. Customers can now confidence test their solutions to a range of standards including MIL-STD 810, 167 and EN50155 as part of the turnkey services provided in one location. APC Technology already offers shock, vibration, humidity and temperature testing all in-house. By expanding the test facilities, Managing Director Scott Begbie commented, “we are able to provide significant benefits notably the reduction of supply times and overall costs for our clients by no longer needing to use third party test houses.”
What is an EMC chamber?
An anechoic chamber (an-echoic meaning “non-reflective, non-echoing, echo-free”) is a room designed to completely absorb reflections of either sound or electromagnetic waves. They are also often isolated from waves entering from their surroundings. This combination means that a person or detector exclusively hears direct sounds (no reverberant sounds), in effect simulating being inside an infinitely large room.
