Christmas Message and 2021 Review

From APC Technology’s Managing Director

As the Christmas break approaches, I like to take the opportunity to wish our customers, partners and suppliers’ happy holidays. It’s also the perfect time to celebrate the years’ achievements.

As managing director, I have the privilege of leading APC Technology but inevitably it’s the individuals and the team within the company who create our successes. When I reflect on our year I realise yet again that APC has adapted, grown and set itself up for an exciting 2022.

2020 was a challenge for everyone with a global pandemic that impacted many of us professionally and personally. We kicked off 2021 with a vaccination, and the highly anticipated borders re-opening both domestically and internationally – we all thought 2021 would be easier to navigate. However, in February APC experienced an on-site fire. Initially we thought it was a minor incident, but it rapidly became apparent that due to the nature of the event, we were faced with gutting and rebuilding our manufacturing facilities. Check out the video which is a timeline of the recovery. The staff at APC rallied to ensure we were back in business as soon as possible whilst being patient about their working environment as we rebuilt. We took the opportunity to rebuild a space with added features and functionality meaning we took a negative and made it a positive.

We have still managed in challenging circumstances to achieve milestones and gain successes. We have shared these internally, with suppliers, customers and partners. Highlights include:-

  • Our commitment to growing our workforce through partnerships with education institutions has been a major success. With two recipients from the SA Premier’s scholarship program, both engineers have become permanent members of staff at APC.
  • We hosted Premier Marshall and VIPs for the inaugural acknowledgement ceremony of the Scholarship participants.
  • We have continued to actively partner with local companies to elevate our own capabilities. This included partnering with TestLab to rapidly print soft touch buttons for a display prototype.
  • We landed two nominations at the Defence Teaming Centre defence awards for 2021. One for most resilient & adaptive and the second for TEAMING. Daronmont Technologies led the teaming project and we designed, built and supplied MIL-SPEC lightweight generators. At the awards night we were delighted to win the TEAMING award. Check out the nominees and winner videos.
  • The evolution of our generators has resulted in a solution that is a global market leader. We delivered one of the lightest, smallest MIL-SPEC diesel generators available in today’s market. You can watch the video documenting the project.
  • We have been acknowledged as the number one reseller for Getac rugged mobile solutions in 2021. We also reached gold status- one of two companies who are at this level within Australia.
  • We became a member of the C4 EDGE team. The program aims to grow and demonstrate Australian C4 (command control communications and computers) industry capacity and ability.
  • As part of C4 EDGE we designed and built a defence ready GVA smart display. This was showcased at LandFORCES and has continued to evolve with a 2nd generation, adding additional features and benefits.
  • We broadened our hazardous mobile range partnering with Pepperl+Fuschs to offer phones and tablets for zoned areas. With our own range of IECEx solutions we can support clients with high performing equipment that offers peace of mind in some of the most challenging environments.
  • Earlier in the year during the APPEA conference we launched our remote monitoring technology. The RMS provides a scalable low-cost entry point to users who wish to incorporate remote site monitoring into their business.
  • We have invested in our video content including a series around projects we have completed and the value we added. For example we show case our ability to improve product efficiencies or create a modular rack prototype in one afternoon. We have also updated our company video to highlight our capabilities across the business.
  • We are currently investing in a significant upgrade to our cyber security. Saab are working with us to increase our cyber security maturity and resilience by early January 2022. This will include membership of DISP and ISO27001 certification.

These accomplishments would not have been possible without the ongoing efforts of the staff at APC Technology and the support of the Board. Additionally on behalf of our organisation I would also like to thank our customers, suppliers and industry partners for their understanding early in the year and the impact of the fire. Your support enables us to be a success.

During 2021 we have had the opportunity to design and create a large number of unique rugged solutions that are now operating in the field across a diverse range of industry sectors – that is what we love to do!

Have a wonderful Christmas break and APC Technology looks forward to working with you and growing our businesses together in 2022.
