Developing Our Supply Chain in 2020 to Benefit Customers

How engaging more Australian based suppliers benefits our customers, business and the domestic economy.

APC Technology has been in business for more than thirty years and during this time we have proactively developed the depth and breadth of our products through partnership, both locally and overseas. As our business matured, we invested extensively in our ability to engineer bespoke solutions from our head office in South Australia. We shifted our approach, finding like-minded companies with the aim of enhancing our skills and technological offerings regardless of geographical location.

Then we found ourselves navigating 2020 and a worldwide pandemic. The result has been a shift in how companies across the globe are doing business; utilising new technologies and strategies. Currently within Australia we are facing the long haul before overseas travel will be re-established to the same levels as of 2019. Supply chains worldwide have been heavily effected, with lead times increasing significantly.

At this time the ability to be proactive and nimble is critical to ongoing success. Our senior management team have actively been researching and developing partnerships with local and inter-state companies to create more Australian-centric partnerships that add value across all areas of our business and reduces our reliance on off-shore suppliers.

This approach offers multiple levels of benefits for APC Technology, our customers and the local economy:-

  • Faster turnaround times – Using local suppliers reduces the length of supply chain management. By utilising local manufacturers, we also reduce logistics cost.
  • Easier quality control– By using local partners we have the advantage of keeping a close eye on a project. With complex designs we are able to manage quality control.
  • Improved communication– using local companies can reduce time zone & cultural barriers and creates face-to-face opportunities with the ability to build long term relationships. This can lead to the establishment of new networks, contacts and purchasing benefits.
  • Environmental benefit – A reduction in our carbon footprint due to closer proximity.
  • Supporting the local economy– the flow on effects remains in the local economy. According to the Australian Made campaign, for every 1 million dollars invested in new or retained business in the domestic manufacturing industry, $333,900 worth of tax revenue is created, as well as 10 full-time jobs. Small business stands to benefit hugely from such healthy local and national economic conditions.
  • Access to knowledge & capabilities- partnership provides the opportunity to discover synergies, expand capabilities and skills. Also the ability to add the capabilities of a partner in conjunction with our own skill set to explore new markets and expand our capabilities offerings.
