APC Technology is dedicated to ensuring and promoting a working environment where the exposure to COVID-19 is minimised.

This policy applies to all staff and visitors of APC Technology.

What is COVID-19
Covid-19 is a virus that appears to have originated from China in the Wuhan province and has continued to spread worldwide causing unprecedented illness and in some cases has led to fatalities. Precautionary measures are being taken as advised by relevant Government Agencies. Covid-19 can be potentially serious if not managed appropriately. It is the current understanding that the Covid-19 has an incubation period of 14 days. The management of Covid-19 will be continually monitored, and the corrective action plan will be continually reviewed.

Immediate Action

Any Employee who is feeling unwell with flu like symptoms must not come into work and we may require you to obtain a medical certificate before returning. Symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath and sore throat. APC Technology reserves the right to send any employee home who is displaying flu like symptoms. Please ensure communication with your supervisor throughout.

Preventive Action

  • All work surfaces to be cleaned with anti-bacterial wipes or cleaner daily.
  • When meeting with staff, employees and visitors, it is currently socially acceptable and appropriate to not shake hands and to endeavour to keep 1.5 metres distance from the person that you are meeting with.
  • Try to use phone or video conferencing instead of face to face meetings where possible.
  • Everyone must wash their hands regularly and cover their mouth when coughing or sneezing with tissues or arm sleeve.
  • Minimise your movement through the building and between departments. If a phone call or email will solve a problem, avoid the physical contact and use those distance methods as much as possible.
  • Advise all contacts to refrain from visiting the premises for the foreseeable future. If visits are necessary, please ensure visitors adhere to this policy.
  • Avoid physical contact with objects from outside the premises where possible. For example, external pens and stylus when signing for deliveries. Always ensure you don’t touch your face or eat without washing your hands thoroughly if contact is avoidable.
  • Avoid gathering during meal breaks, if you are, please maintain the 1.5 meter distance. Eat your lunch at your desk (where applicable), car or outside where safe.
  • Practise good food safety. Use only freshly cleaned cutlery/crockery/mugs etc and minimise sharing. Do not share food or bring food in for other staff to share.
  • Avoid contact where possible with desk tops, door handles, stair rails or shared items in the common areas. Use anti-bacterial wipes where required.

Travel Preventative Action

We are implementing precautions as detailed by both the Federal and State Governments. Any employees and visitors arriving into South Australia from overseas, or interstate, must self-isolate for 14 days. Employees must inform their manager / supervisor of their return date from overseas or interstate, who will ensure the 14 day self-isolation is implemented.

Any leave application from 16th March 2020 for the purpose of overseas or interstate travel will need to be approved by the Managing Director.

Advice from The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is to reconsider the need to travel overseas. All work related travel will be cancelled until further notice. If employees choose to travel for personal time, please ensure all guidelines are followed as per advice from Smart Traveller website and Department of Home Affairs.

Please keep track of instructions from Australian Government via Smart Traveller

Self-isolation should be carried out according to the guidelines given by SA Health

Last update: 23rd March 2020

Notice for APC staff: please contact the APC office manager for the extended version of this policy which includes information on arrangements for self-isolation periods and personal wellbeing.
