APC Technology Congratulates BFBS on 10 Years of MiPlayer

APC Technology congratulates BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) on the 10-year anniversary of MiPlayer, a secure, offline-ready media platform that has delivered trusted broadcast, entertainment, and wellbeing content to armed forces communities for a decade.

First deployed in 2016, MiPlayer was designed to operate in remote and disconnected environments, providing access to television, radio, video-on-demand, podcasts, sport, music, and wellbeing resources without requiring internet connectivity. Over the past ten years, the platform has evolved into a mature and widely deployed solution supporting users at sea, on deployed bases, and in other challenging locations worldwide.

A Decade of Proven Delivery

Key milestones in MiPlayer’s journey include:

• 2016 – Initial operational deployment delivering live TV and radio via a local network

• 2017–2018 – Expansion across multiple naval and land-based environments, alongside the introduction of digital publications and multi-device access

• 2020 – Adoption as a public service solution in the Falkland Islands, enabling broadcast access without consuming limited bandwidth

• Recent years – Continued enhancement to support modern satellite environments and evolving operational needs

Across its first decade, MiPlayer has demonstrated the importance of reliable access to familiar media in supporting wellbeing, morale, and connection for people working far from home.

Supporting Availability in Australasia

Earlier this year, BFBS and APC Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that establishes APC Technology as a partner supporting the availability of MiPlayer across Australia and the wider Australasian region, including Defence and remote industrial environments.

Under the MoU, APC Technology supports the delivery of BFBS’s established MiPlayer platform to regional customers, building on BFBS’s long-standing experience and proven capability.

APC Technology congratulates BFBS on this significant 10-year milestone and recognises MiPlayer as a strong example of how trusted media and welfare technology can deliver lasting value in remote and mission-critical environments.
